Applies to Models: ARN, XRN, QRN, PRN, HRX series recorders with internal switches
Sometimes, your Hanwha NVR doesn't detect your Hanwha Cameras right out of the box. Most often, the cause for this will be due to a pre-configured camera or bad network configuration on the NVR. The only way to resolve the issue is to reset and reconfigure the NVR and Cameras back to their factory default state. This article will walk you through that process.
NOTE: This process will only work with Hanwha cameras that are directly connected
to Hanwha NVRs with internal switches. All other Hanwha NVRs need to be configured
through manual mode.
If you are using a 3rd party NVR, please refer to your owner's manual.
Step By Step Guide:
1. Ensure the Cameras and NVR are in a factory default state.
2. Power up the NVR after factory resetting the unit
3. Upon powering up the NVR, the configuration wizard will prompt you to create a password.
4. After setting up your password, proceed through the setup wizard until you are prompted to select an IP address for Network 1 and Network 2
NOTE: All Hanwha cameras ship with a default IP of 192.168.1.100; they are also
defaulted to DHCP. The NVRs ship with DHCP enabled on Network 1 (Camera.)
Always be sure that the IP address of Network 1 is NOT in the same range as
Example of incorrect setup:
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
It is in the same range as:
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Both of the addresses above are in the same range.
Make sure your camera network is NOT in the same range as the client's existing
network. Always verify the customers IP range BEFORE setting up the recorder;
failure to do so will cause multiple issues, primarily the failure to detect
5. After entering your IP addresses for Network 1 and Network 2, continue to follow the setup wizard.
6. You will be asked if you want PnP mode enabled. Enabling PNP mode allows the Hanwha NVR to automatically detect Hanwha Cameras that are in a factory default state.
NOTE: PnP mode makes camera registration easy, but it does not work reliably with
external switches, third-party cameras, and multi-sensor cameras. If you need to
use any of these devices, do not enable PnP mode.
7. The setup wizard will eventually ask you if the cameras have a password, choose the no option since you have defaulted your cameras
8. Enter the password to set for your factory defaulted cameras
9. If you have completed the setup wizard in PnP mode and some or all of the cameras are not present, you may need to reboot them by unplugging them from the NVR and plugging them back in.
An alternative method is to enter the camera's current password in the NVR's camera registration menu. This assumes the cameras have valid IP addresses that can communicate to the NVR.
