Applies to Models: Hanwha NVR's
Summary:
This article will cover the NVR bootup issue of Hanwha NVR's with embedded System on a Chip operating systems.
Explanation of Behavior:
NVR Boot Sequence:
1: Bios – The recorder is initialing the BIOS or Firmware.
- The bios or boot loader starts the OS(Linux Kernel), so when this bios process stops, it can be because of either hardware or firmware issues.
- If this doesn't load, try rebooting the NVR
2: Kernel – The recorder checks the CPU status and checks for hardware issues.
- This process is right after the OS(Linux Kernel) starts and is in the initializing stage.
- If this doesn’t proceed properly, it is most likely due to either hardware or firmware not being properly installed.
- If this fails to load, try rebooting the NVR
3: HDD Check – The recorder checks the hard drives for any Smart errors.
- This process will recognize the HDD in NVR and is examining the S.M.A.R.T status
- If one of the drives has any error in it, check recovery attempts will be made
- If there is any issue with the SATA cable, this process may stop or take longer than expected.
- If this fails, power down the recorder, disconnect the hard drives and power the recorder without any hard drives connected.
- If the NVR boots up, reconnect each hard drive until you eliminate the one causing the issue.
4: System Initialization – The recorder initializes the internal OS and gets ready to load the user interface.
- This process involves initializing the main software modules and device drivers related to the hardware that makes the NVR function.
- This system initialization may stop at any moment or repeat the same process when a critical fault is found in the hardware or software.
- If this doesn't load, try rebooting
5: REC Check – The recorder checks the internal hard drives' data integrity and folder structure.
- This process searches all recorded files and analyzes the relationship between files for the recorder.
- Larger capacity hard drives extend this process drastically.
- If this fails, power down the recorder, disconnect the hard drives and power the recorder without any hard drives connected.
- If the NVR boots up, reconnect each hard drive until you eliminate the hard drive that is causing the issue.
-
Please do not remove or disconnect the hard drives from the recorder while running.
