Summary
Recording video to a microSD card heavily strains the recording media. Due to those stresses, Hanwha recommends high-quality microSD cards for use in our cameras. This article provides the recommended microSD memory cards to use in Hanwha IP cameras.
It is strongly recommended to use Hanwha-branded microSD cards, as they are industrial-level microSD storage cards. These are high performance storage cards using top quality 3D NAND Flash (TLC-based) and rated to endure 3K P/E cycles. These are ideal for write intensive applications such as surveillance systems, medical devices, and POS terminals.

Specifications
- NAND - TLC stores 3 bits per cell and offers better performance and endurance as well as more error-prone, making it ideal for frequent write operations.
- TBW (Terabytes Written) - Metric that indicates how much data can be written to a drive before it reaches the end of its lifespan or warranty. TBW is a key factor in estimating a durability and longevity of the microSD storage cards. Higher TBW number indicates higher longevity of the card.
- P/E (Program/Erase cycles) - Measure of how many times a microSD card can be programmed and erased. The endurance of a microSD card is important, especially for surveillance cameras, which require continuous recording. Higher number indicates higher endurance and more write/erase cycles can be handled by the card.
- Operating Temperature - Hanwha Industrial microSD cards support extreme temperature conditions and wide range of industrial applications.
- Hanwha microSD cards are designed for 24/7 operation.
