Summary
This article provides instructions for enabling Always Write Back in the MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) software. Leaving Always Write Back disabled can lead to "Not enough HDD/SSD speed for recording" errors on WAVE Servers with Broadcom RAID controllers.
Enabling Always Write Back

- Execute the StartupUI command in the MegaRAID Storage Manager folder in the Windows Start menu or double-click the MSM icon (
) on the desktop. Select the server you wish to manage.
- Enter User Name and Password. The username is admin, the password is the Windows password.
- Click the Logical tab.
- Right-click Virtual Drive and select Set Virtual Drive Properties.
- Select Always Write Back from the Write Policy field. Do NOT select Write Through. This will cause an error.
- Click OK and confirm you want to set the Virtual Disk properties.
