Summary

This article provides instructions for enabling Always Write Back in the MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) software. Leaving Always Write Back disabled can lead to "Not enough HDD/SSD speed for recording" errors on WAVE Servers with Broadcom RAID controllers.

Enabling Always Write Back

NOTE: The images below are from MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) 
version 17.05.00.02.

1. Execute the StartupUI command in the MegaRAID Storage Manager folder in the Windows Start menu or double-click the MSM icon () on the desktop.  Select the server you wish to manage.
   
   
   
   
2. Enter User Name and Password. The username is admin, the password is the Windows password.
   
   
   
   
3. Click the Logical tab.
   
   
   
   
4. Right-click Virtual Drive and select Set Virtual Drive Properties.
   
   
   
   
5. Select Always Write Back from the Write Policy field. Do NOT select Write Through. This will cause an error.
   
   
   
   
6. Click OK and confirm you want to set the Virtual Disk properties.
