Summary
When uninstalling WAVE, the default behavior of the software is to keep user preferences in case a user re-installs the software or is upgrading from one version to another. In some cases, users may want to fully remove WAVE. Follow the steps below to clear out any WAVE remnants from your machine.
CAUTION: When performing a clean uninstall, create a backup of your WAVE VMS system
configuration. In the System Administration Menu, select Create Backup. The backup will
retain all the licenses, software settings, users, and registered devices.
Performing a Clean Uninstall of WAVE
Windows
To uninstall WAVE in Windows:
Ubuntu
To uninstall WAVE in Ubuntu:
- Use the package manager that you used to install the WAVE client and/or server, or open a terminal window and type:
sudo apt-get remove hanwha-mediaserver
sudo apt-get remove hanwha-client - Respond to any prompts, including the sudo password. You may be prompted to keep or delete the system database.
- Reboot the computer.
- To remove any remnants of the client and server applications, other than recorded video files, delete these directories:
/opt/hanwha/
/home/$USER/.config/Hanwha/
/home/$USER/.local/share/Hanwha/ - To remove any recorded video navigate to the storage location you set up for your server and find the Wisenet WAVE Media directory and remove that director.
macOS
To uninstall WAVE in macOS:
- Using Finder, delete Wisenet WAVE Client from your Mac.
- Open Finder and use the search input field to look for these associated files:
- Hanwha
- Wisenet WAVE
- Manually select all the files displayed and send them to the trash.
NOTE: After removing these files and folders, ensure you also removed them from the
Trash Bin as well.
