Summary
This article explains the selection for camera and storage for OnCloud Edge recording devices.
Selecting a Camera and Storage
To select a camera and storage:
- Choose a Hanwha Camera with Edge Recording Support from the list in the article: OnCloud: What cameras are supported?
-
Review this table for the expected recording days for both Standard Quality (SQ) and High Quality (HQ) recordings. The table is based on a 2.5 Mbps bitrate.
Total SD Card Storage in TB Maximum SQ Days HQ Days w/30 Days SQ HQ Days w/45 Days SQ HQ Days w/60 Days SQ HQ Days w/90 Days SQ HQ Days w/120 Days SQ 0.75 115 20 16 13 6 0 1 154 29 26 22 15 8 1.25 192 38 35 31 24 17 1.5 231 48 44 41 33 26 2 308 66 63 59 52 45
NOTE: The system calculates the maximum number of days of SQ video that the installed
storage can hold.
- Select the minimum number of SQ recording days needed for the installation.
- Select the minimum number of days of HQ recording needed in addition to the SQ recordings.
- Find the least number of days greater than the minimum number of days for SQ and HQ and determine which storage to purchase.
- Select a supported SD Card from Hanwha or Transcend.
-
Install the SD card.
NOTE: Refer to the camera documentation of the specific model for detailed instructions
on how to install the SD card into the camera housing. -
Set a minimum number of SQ storage days equal to or less than the maximum calculated. See OnCloud Edge Recording: How do I Test and Adjust the Camera?
NOTE: The system stores as much HQ video as possible in the remaining space. Setting
the minimum days to the same value as the maximum days results in no HQ video being
stored. The number of days of HQ video is calculated based on a BitRate of 2.5 Mbps.
Changing the BitRate may lower the number of HQ days that are retained, but does not
change the number of SQ days. The number of days of HQ video is also impacted by the
activity the camera observes; higher activity areas will see fewer days of HQ video
than lower activity areas, all other settings being equal. The system deletes HQ video
one day at a time to maintain the minimum level of SQ video storage set by the user.NOTE: Hanwha recommends using Hanwha SD cards that meet our rigorous standards for
quality and reliability. Other branded cards are unsupported. If you choose and
unsupported, third-party card, it must be a MLC, Class 10, UHS-3 Class card.
