Summary
HealthPro Bridge provides an internet bridging mechanism to monitor and manage cameras and WAVE servers through HealthPro. This article presents an overview of the main components of the solution.
Understanding HealthPro Bridge, Cameras, and WAVE Systems
To monitor and manage a WAVE system using HealthPro Bridge, first scan and add the WAVE server. WAVE then invites HealthPro Bridge to establish a direct relationship with its bridge-compatible cameras. The onboarding process is automated, and all WAVE camera names will be propagated to Cloud Portal. Bridge-compatible cameras can be licensed for premium services, such as firmware updates and other features.
Bridge-incompatible cameras are still monitored via the WAVE system but do not require licensing.
If your video management system is not WAVE, scan the network for compatible cameras and connect them to Cloud Portal. Each camera will need to be named individually within Cloud Portal.
IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend using a wired network and fixed IP for
the PC (server) running HealthPro Bridge and all connected devices.
Installing and Updating HealthPro Bridge
HealthPro Bridge is a Windows-based application that must be installed on the same network (or subnetwork) as the devices you want to monitor or manage. It includes a client application for system configuration, which runs on the local machine. While this machine is often a WAVE server, but it does not have to be.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the machine does not enter sleep mode, as
HealthPro Bridge also runs several background services.
During installation, you need to specify a name for the Bridge. This name can be aliased inside Cloud Portal. You will also need to create an initial password.
Once installed, HealthPro Bridge is intentionally updated from HealthPro just like any other device (it does not self-update). Each HealthPro Bridge needs to be connected to a Customer Organization, onboarded into Cloud Portal, and claimed into HealthPro. While a Bridge does not require a license, its cameras do.
Connecting to Cloud Portal
To connect to Cloud Portal:
- Download and install HealthPro Bridge on the on-premises machine.
- Launch HealthPro Bridge and enter the Organization ID and Short name from Cloud Portal, then click Connect.
- Sign in to your Cloud Portal account.
- Navigate to Devices > Onboard Devices.
- Select the HealthPro Bridge to onboard then click Add.
You will see that it has connected to Cloud Portal.
Adding cameras
There are two ways to scan for cameras – Auto and Manual. Scan mode is activated only when the HealthPro Bridge server is properly connected to Cloud after initial login.
Auto
To scan using Auto mode:
- In HealthPro Bridge, select the Auto radio button.
- Enter your camera credentials (ID and Password) then click Scan.
- Select the cameras then click Add to Cloud Portal.
The device will transition from the Scanned tab to the Managed tab, awaiting onboarding in Cloud Portal.
In Cloud Portal, the camera will appear under the Bridge.
- Select the camera and click Claim.
The device is now in HealthPro and shows as connected in Cloud Portal.
Manual
To scan using Manual mode:
- In HealthPro Bridge, select the Manual radio button then select either Hanwha Vision camera, AXIS camera, or Hanwha Vision WAVE from the drop-down menu.
- Enter an IP Range, HTTP/HTTPS, and Port.
- Enter your device credentials (ID and Password) then click Scan.
- Select the devices you would like to add to Cloud Portal, then click Add to Cloud Portal.
NOTE: Since Auto mode does not guarantee 100% detection of all
In this example, we are scanning for WAVE servers.
devices, use Manual mode for devices that are not detected by
Auto mode.
- In Cloud Portal, click Scan Network to reveal the WAVE server.
- Select the WAVE server and click + Add.
The WAVE server is now visible beneath the Bridge.
- Click Scan Network on the WAVE server to reveal and add any WAVE-connected cameras.
You can also manually scan for Hanwha Vision and AXIS cameras.
Editing cameras
In HealthPro Bridge, you can edit or remove camera credentials, such as IP, Port, and HTTP/HTTP(S).
This function is activated when device Error/Warning or Cloud Pending status is changed under Cloud and/or Status.
Icon (Cloud / Status) |
Meaning | Remark |
Cloud connected (added) / Good status
Cloud connected (added) / Error status | Might be a network issue, edit function (Gear icon) activated
Cloud connected (added) / Warning status | Might be a credential issue, edit function (Gear icon) activated
Pending to the Cloud / Good status | Adding a device in portal is not confirmed or removed from the portal, removal function (Trashcan icon) activated |
Backing up Databases
To backup a database:
- Click Export DB to back up the configuration settings for a HealthPro Bridge.
- At the first log in screen (only after initial installation), click Import DB to import the .dat file.
NOTE: This can be useful if HealthPro Bridge is being transferred
to a new machine, or in case of a database corruption.
