As part of network planning, it can be useful to anticipate the continuous bandwidth requirements for Hanwha Vision Cloud solutions. This article outlines the estimated bandwidth requirements for HealthPro (health monitoring and firmware updates) and SightMind (analytics).

HealthPro

HealthPro has two main functions: continuous health monitoring and periodic firmware updates (typically performed once or twice a year).

Continuous Health Monitoring

HealthPro uses an average of 1KB every 5 minutes, per camera and per concurrent user. The following table shows data usage assuming one concurrent user.

Firmware Updates

The amount of data required to update camera firmware depends on system architecture, device models, and the number of devices. The following calculations assume an average firmware file size of 150 MB.

• Direct-to-Cloud Cameras
  
  Each direct-to-cloud camera downloads its own copy of the firmware. For example, 100 cameras will use 1,500 MB of data.
  
  
• HealthPro Bridge-Connected Cameras
  
  HealthPro Bridge downloads and caches firmware once per model and shares it with each camera of that model. For exampe, 100 cameras of a single model will only need HealthPro Bridge to download 150 MB of data. If there are 99 cameras of model A and 1 camera of model B, HealthPro Bridge will download 300 MB of data.
  

SightMind

SightMind’s bandwidth usage depends on the frequency of AI events (such as when a person or vehicle crosses a line) and the number of devices. For example, an AI event is each time a person or vehicle crosses a line.

The following table assumes one camera and a typical metadata packet averaging 700 bytes.

For instance, one camera counting 1,000 retail store visitors per day will use 0.67 MB/day (or 5.4 Megabits/day), which equates to an average bitrate of less than 1 kbps.
