Issue Summary
A camera reboot may occur if the camera's waterproofing is inadequate. There is a factory reset as the system reboots repeatedly at an unspecified time period. However, the log review shows that the actual Factory Reset button physically works.
The Factory Reset switch malfunctions are caused by dust and water ingress. Insufficient waterproofing (bad backbox screw fastening, backbox not fastened, etc.) allows these elements into the unit, and the inside of the switch becomes conductive, and the insulation is damaged.
This article describes how to fix the repeated reboot issue with multiple bullet cameras.
Resolution
To prevent dust and water ingress:
- Tighten the screws of the backbox completely, without any gaps, to prevent dust/water ingress.
- Familiarize yourself with backbox waterproofing procedures, such as cable bushing treatment.
- Avoid arbitrary installation methods, such as omitting the backbox installation, depending on the on-site environment. In such a case, the warranty becomes void.
