Applies to: Hanwha Vision Cloud
Summary:
This article outlines the process for evaluating Hanwha Vision and attaching a trial license.
Hanwha Vision Cloud:
This comprehensive suite includes cloud-based solutions for video management and storage, remote health monitoring and device management, AI-metadata-powered business intelligence, and developing custom AI models.
Hanwha Vision Cloud is composed of:
- Cloud Portal (see How do I launch Cloud Portal?) – the platform on which all other applications are built, including core functionality such as device onboarding, account and user management
- OnCloud (see OnCloud: How do I log in?) – for video management using cloud storage
- DMPro (see What is DMPro?) – for device management across many locations, including health monitoring, firmware updates, and license management
- SightMind (see Get Started) – for visualizing and monitoring AI metadata from cameras
- FLEX AI (see Get Started) – for the creation of custom AI models (one recurring license) to recognize new types of objects, which can then be uploaded onto compatible cameras (one-time license per camera)
Optional Supporting Elements
When you evaluate Hanwha Vision Cloud, you might find you will need one or more of the following. Having these ready in advance will streamline the process.
- CloudConnector App – runs on compatible cameras and is downloadable free of charge from the website. This is especially important for evaluating OnCloud and mandatory for SightMind. Refer to OnCloud: What cameras are supported?
- DM Bridge (see DM Bridge: How do I add multiple devices at once to the Hanwha Vision Cloud?) – a free of charge downloadable that enables cameras to connect to DMPro for monitoring and management. It is small and consumes very few system resources and runs on-premises on a Windows PC or server. For convenience it can be hosted on a Windows-based WAVE recorder.
- Cloud Gateway Appliance (release date TBD) – a small hardware appliance that enables cameras to connect to OnCloud for video management, and allows DMPro to monitor the cameras.
- MP4 video clips – used to train your FLEX AI model. FLEX AI is different from the other apps in that you can still evaluate its ability to create custom object detection models without using any cameras or other software. Refer to FLEX AI: How do I add a video clip for FLEX AI usage?
Camera Selection
Each application within Hanwha Vision Cloud has a list of compatible cameras. In general, using a P-series AI single-imager camera is most likely to be compatible across all the apps, which might simplify the evaluation process. Refer to the following article: Hanwha Vision Cloud Product Compatibility
Connectivity
The cloud-based applications require that the cameras directly, or indirectly via a software or hardware, have access to the internet.
- Open port: 443
- Protocols: HTTPS / MQTT / WEBRTC / RTP / SRTP / DTLS / RTSP
For a more detailed understanding of network requirements, refer to: What are the network requirements for Hanwha Vision Cloud?

Step By Step Guide:
To attach a trial license:
- Sign in to Cloud Portal. If you do not already have an account, create one.
- Configure your Locations, Areas, Users, etc.
- Copy your Org ID and short name. Your devices will need these to connect to Cloud Portal.
- Connect your cameras/devices to the network using Wisenet Device Manager to configure the basic camera settings, including video analytics.
If you are using the CloudConnector App on each camera, you will need to download, install, and configure it first.
If you are using the DM Bridge software you will need to download, install, and configure it first.
If you are using the Cloud Gateway Appliance, you will need to install and configure it first.
- Confirm the cameras appear in Cloud Portal.
- Switch to OnCloud, DMPro, or SightMind, and claim (add) the devices.
- Select a device and attach your trial license.
If you do not have trial licenses, reach out to your Hanwha Vision sales representative who will engage Hanwha Vision Inside Sales to create the temporary trial licenses.
Alternatively, STEP Partners can go through Distribution to purchase non-trial licenses.
