Summary:
This article will walk you through configuring the Perc H755 controller on our S204X model servers, which utilize the Dell PowerEdge 760XS(L) chassis.
Explanation of Behavior:
- By the end of this article, there will be two virtual Disks, one in RAID 1 and the other in RAID 6
- All data in this array will be lost. Do not perform this on a system with data that needs to be retained unless the data has been copied to another system.
Resolution:
- The following steps will walk you through breaking the RAID 5 array and reforming a new RAID 6 Array

Step By Step:
- Access the iDRAC Controller
- Click Configuration at the top menu
- Click Storage Configuration
- Select the H755 controller from the dropdown.
- Expand Virtual Disks Configuration
- Open up the Virtual Disk drop-down
- Put a check by the RAID 5, DO NOT check the OS_2 array
- Select the “Delete” action of the RAID 5 Array line
- Click Apply Now
- Use the instructions >Here< to delete the current RAID 5 Virtual Disk
in the BIOS - Go to Storage, then Physical Disks
- Select the H755 Controller from the list.
- Select the disks you wish to add to the array.
- Click Create Virtual Disk
- When the creator wizard appears to configure the Virtual Disk properties. Select the following fields:
- Once you have selected the drives and options, click Apply Now.
