Summary
This article provides instructions for configuring the Perc H755 controller on Hanwha's S204X model servers, which use the Dell PowerEdge 760XS(L) chassis. By following these instructions, you will create two virtual disks: one in RAID 1 and the other in RAID 6.
WARNING: Do NOT perform this on a system with data that needs
to be retained unless the data has been copied to another
system. All data in the existing array will be lost.
Configuring the Perc H755 Controller
To configure the Perc H755 controller:
- Access the iDRAC Controller.
- On the top menu, click Configuration then Storage Configuration.
- From the Controller drop-down menu, select the H755 controller.
- Expand the Virtual Disks Configuration section.
- Check the box next to RAID 5.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT check the OS 2 array.
- In the RAID 5 line, select Delete from the Virtual Disk Actions drop-down menu.
- Click Apply Now.
- Delete the current RAID 5 Virtual Disk in the BIOS.

- Click Storage then Physical Disks.
- From the Controller drop-down menu, select the H755 controller.
- Check the boxes next to the disks you want to add to the array then click Create Virtual Disk.
- When the Creator Wizard appears, select the following fields:
Name - Storage
Layout - RAID 6
Stripe element size - 512kb
Write Policy - Write Back
NOTE: These are the settings types for the Creator Wizard.
Leave all other fields as their default setting. - Click Apply Now.
