Summary:
The SRN series of recorders are now at the end of life; not all later-generation cameras are compatible with them.
Explanation of Behavior:
- You may be able to add an incompatible camera to an SRN via RTSP (ensure RTP without authentication is ticked on the camera; more info here); this allows only the video stream to be sent to the SRN, no alarms, analytics, or PTZ movement is supported via this method
Resolution:
- The table below shows what cameras; older Q-Series, newer Q-Series, X-Series, and ONVIF cameras are compatible with the SRN NVRs (Figure 1)

Some of the SRNS were released before the concept of ONVIF profiles were
contrived, so they have basic ONVIF compatibility, which modern cameras
have done away with in favour of the ONVIF profiles. The 4-channels SRNS
may be running firmware that supports only Samsung cameras, ONVIF support
was not enabled in later firmware. While it may be possible to downgrade
to an earlier firmware version, this is not advised and may break the NVR.
