Step By Step Guide:
Setting up a Synology NAS
To set up a Synology NAS:
- On the Synology NAS, create a shared folder where you want the recordings to be saved.
NOTE: It is important that the Enable Recycle Bin checkbox is NOT checked.
- Create a user account for the Wisenet camera to use.
In this instance, the user name is Quota. - Assign the user account Read/Write permission to the recording folder.
In this case, the folder is named NoQuota.
NOTE: Wisenet cameras support a maximum of 2TB for NAS storage. If your
storage is larger than 2TB, you must set a Quota for the user account. - Check the Allow checkbox for SMB.
NOTE: Wisenet 7 cameras support SMB V3.
Wisenet 5 cameras support SMB V1 only. - Enable SMB V1 on your Synology NAS.
NOTE: This step is not required if you are using Wisenet 7 cameras.
Setting up the Camera
To set up the camera:
- Navigate to the Web UI of the camera by entering the IP address in your web browser.
- Go to Settings > Event > Storage then select the NAS radio button.
- Next to NAS, select On from the Record dropdown menu.
- In the NAS Connection Setup portion of the page, enter the IP address of the NAS.
- Enter the ID (Username) and Password for the account registered on the NAS.
In the following example image, the ID is Quota. - Enter the Default folder where the recordings will be store on the NAS.
In the following example image, the folder name is NoQuota. - Modify your recording settings to your desired options.
- Click Apply.
