Summary
The WRN range of NVRs (WAVE PoE NVR) run on Ubuntu (Linux OS based on the Debian branch of distributions). An additional language may need to be added to the Operating System. This article explains how to accomplish add an additional language.
Changing the Language
To change the keyboard and OS language:
NOTE: An active internet connection to the WRN recorder is needed for this process.
- Power ON and log in to WAVE PoE NVR.
- Navigate to Ubuntu Settings using one of the following methods.
Using a keyboard
Press the Start/Windows key on your keyboard then type settings and press Enter.
Using your mouse (1 of 2)
Click the 9-dot icon in the bottom left corner then click Settings.
Using your mouse (2 of 2)
Click the down facing arrow in the top right hand corner then select the Settings icon. - In Ubuntu Settings, select Language and Region.
NOTE: Both keyboard layout and language packs can be managed in this menu.
Adding a Keyboard Layout
To add a keyboard layout:
- In the Language and Region section, under Input Sources, click the + (plus) button.
- In the Add an Input Source section, click the three dots.
- Scroll to the end of the list and click Other.
- Search for a language by entering the language via a connected keyboard or scroll through the list of languages, then click Add.
Once the language has been selected, it is added in the Input Sources section. Input language priority can be changed by moving the desired language up or down.
The selected language now appears under the Input Sources section.
Adding a Language Pack to Linux
To add a language pack to Linux:
- Select Settings > Language and Region.
- Click Manage Installed Languages.
- In the Language Support window, click Install/Remove Languages.
- From the Installed Languages window, search for a desired language by typing or scrolling through the list.
- Check the box in the Installed column for the desired language, then click Apply.
Notice in the lower left corner of the window the number of languages to install. - Once the language is added, click Apply system-wide.
You will be prompted to authenticate to apply the changes. - Enter the Linux OS user Password.
The selected language pack downloads. - Once the language and input sources are installed, you can change the Language and Formats.
- Restart to complete the changes.
