Summary:
Older End-of-Life Samsung/Hanwha NVR's run sluggishly with third-party cameras registered, making navigating the UI slow and unresponsive.
Explanation of Behavior:
- Registration of third-party cameras via the ONVIF protocol will consume more CPU resources than the more efficient Wisenet protocol.
- This is due to errors in the third-party manufacturer's ONVIF code for event transmission.
- The Mouse pointer will be sluggish.
- All reaction times on the NVR will be slower, making usage of the NVR user interface more difficult.
Resolution:
- Turn off receiving events from third-party cameras
- Login to the NVR
- Go to Device>Camera>Camera Registration, go to the lower left, and click ONVIF Setup.
- Go to the Event Tab
- Find /VideoSource/MotionAlarm
- Click on the NVR-supported events for /VideoSource/MotionAlarm and change it to none.
- Click ok at the bottom of the ONVIF Setup screen
- Click ok at the bottom of the Camera registration screen
- Repeat these steps for every third-party camera
- Motion Detection for these cameras will no longer be possible. You will need to change the recording schedule to Continuous Recording
