Applies to Models: WAVE
Summary:
WAVE's Storage Backup feature allows users to back up archived footage from system servers to secure NAS, DAS, or offsite cloud-based locations like FTP. This article provides instructions for configuring Storage Backup.
Step By Step Guide:
To configure storage backup:
- Log in to the WAVE Client.
- Right-click a server in the Resource Panel and click Server Settings.
- Click the Storage Management tab.
- Make sure you have added the storage location to this server.
- Click Use as Backup Storage to use the NAS/location you have selected.
- Select the cameras and the backup quality to use.
- Select the Backup configuration.
- Real-Time (aka redundant recording) – Backups will be performed immediately. The footage will be written to the main and backup storage immediately and simultaneously.
- By Schedule – Backups will be performed on specific days of the week and specific hours. The footage will be backed up since the latest backup (or from the beginning if no backups were made prior).
- On Demand (aka manual) – Backups occur only if the user clicks Start Backup Now and continues until completion (that means all previous data is backed up) or until it is canceled. The data before you trigger this request will be backed up.
- Real-Time (aka redundant recording) – Backups will be performed immediately. The footage will be written to the main and backup storage immediately and simultaneously.
- Click Apply or Ok to save the changes.
NOTE: Each server only backs up archived recordings from its storage archive.
For example, in the multi-server environment, backup storage should be specified
for every server in the system to back up footage from all cameras.
Backup Functionality:
The following are possible disconnect scenarios:
- Real-Time – Previous data before this option was applied will not be backed up. If a real-time backup cannot be executed because of an unexpected failure (e.g., backup NAS not running or network connection dropped), the backup will be lost for that period. Once the NAS or network issue is fixed, the backup will continue in real-time, starting with the failure rectified.
- By Schedule – If the backup process cannot be executed or some unexpected failure (e.g., hardware, network, etc.) stops it, WAVE will tag the time and restart from where it was stopped. The backup will resume if the failure can be fixed on the scheduled day.
- On Demand – If the backup process cannot be executed or some unexpected failure (e.g., hardware, network, etc.) stops it, WAVE will tag the time. Next time, the backup will restart from where it had been stopped.
