Summary:
Although it is never recommended to downgrade a Hanwha WAVE System, there are certain cases where a user may need to downgrade their Hanwha WAVE System after an upgrade to the latest release. This article outlines how to accomplish a downgrade.
NOTE: WAVE automatically creates a backup of the previous version database
before every upgrade.
NOTE: Our Software Development team only addresses software-level issues on
the most recent release of WAVE. If you revert to an older version, you would
be forced to upgrade should any issues arise.
Step By Step Guide:
To uninstall WAVE and revert to an older version:
- Stop the Hanwha Media Server service.
NOTE: This process may cause the Recording Licenses to drop out of the
database. Export your Recording Licenses under System Administration >
Licenses. Click the Export button in the top right of the License screen,
and save the license key list to your desktop. - Navigate to:
- In Windows
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Hanwha\Hanwha Media Server - In Linux
/opt/hanwha/mediaserver/var
- In Windows
- Locate the current ecs.sqlite and move this file to a folder on your desktop.
- Navigate to the backup directory, which is in the same directory as the ecs.sqlite.
Example (in Windows):
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Hanwha\HanwhaMediaServer\backup
Linux - /opt/hanwha/mediaserver/var/backup - Copy all the files out of the directories above to your desktop.
- Uninstall WAVE via the Windows Control Panel.
- Re-install the prior version you wish to roll back to.
NOTE: You can obtain older versions from support. The version you restore
must match your backup file. - Set up the new install as a New System in the Setup Wizard.
This creates new ecs.sqlite. - Stop the Hanwha Media Server Service.
- Find the backup file you wish to put back into the system.
NOTE: ecs_36634_1689352709991_timer.db - ecs_36634 indicates this backup
file was from WAVE Build 36634. You could also look at the modified date
and select the most recent backup file. - Rename the new file to ecs.old and rename the backup file to ecs.sqlite.
- Start the Hanwha Media Server Service.
- Log in to WAVE and verify your server is operational.
NOTE: These steps must be repeated for every server in a multi-server system.
- If your server(s) are connected to WAVE Sync, re-establish this last, after all of your servers are functional.
